Over half a million eggs have been voluntarily recalled by Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms of Iowa, two of the nation's largest egg producers, after the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control tied thousands of cases of salmonella exposure to eggs produced by the companies. The pending legislation would give the FDA the authority to issue a mandatory recall of tainted products.
